New Music for an Old Flute!
Since we're delighted with our 2016 commission for Debra's 1816 Laurent Crystal Flute, "Crystal Healing" by Gary Schocker, and since our audiences so love the sound of this wonderful rare instrument, we hope to commission other composers to summon their muses and write more music for it. We will need to do some serious fundraising to bring this project to fruition, but such a priceless vision seems well worthwhile.
“Miller Borne: the Musical Residency of a Native Son”
In collaboration with the Miller Beach Arts and Creative District, Duo Sequenza is developing a composer residency to present the exquisite chamber music of Miller Beach native composer Jerry Owen. The residency will include outreach and educational activities throughout the three-county Lake Michigan South Shore Region in Indiana. Targeted for Fall 2020, the activities will culminate in a formal chamber music concert of Dr. Owen’s works and the World Premiere of a brand new piece written for Duo Sequenza based on the history of the Miller Beach community and honoring its continuing support of the fine arts. This project is presently available for major funding. Inquire here if you'd like to help make this project possible. Please be sure to mention that your gift is for "Miller Borne: the Musical Residency of a Native Son, Composer Jerry Owen" so that you are properly acknowledged!
