Our First  Ever  Annual Fund!

You are visiting this page because you understand that Duo Sequenza is a professional performing flute and classical guitar chamber ensemble committed to developing new audiences for contemporary classical music while promoting the work of living composers. Although our duo was founded way back in 1988, Paul and I have only recently resumed concertizing together after a long hiatus.

We are asking you to make an immediate gift of $50.00 to our first ever Annual Fund.  An Annual Fund by definition consists of unrestricted funds that help a non-profit operate.  Here is why we need your help today: we are commissioning a brand new piece of music!

Duo Sequenza requires significant funding both for the commission and to produce this coming season of three exciting and unique performances in our home venue, the magnificent, historic Memorial Opera House in Valparaiso,

Indiana. Join us as we celebrate the Bi-Centennial of Indiana with our very own "Bi-Sequenz-ennial!"

Part of this very special season will be the World Premiere of “South Shore Suite,” by Jorge Muniz.

The (remaining balance on this) commission for this brand new piece of chamber music is only $6,000.

Our overall goal for the Annual Fund is $18,000.

This commission will be a major addition to the flute and guitar repertoire and portrays a journey

across Northwest Indiana on the South Shore Rail Line. It will consist of five movements, each

serving as a “musical postcard” of important landmarks and historical events in our region. Lake

Michigan, Indiana Dunes' Mount Baldy, the legendary Diana of the Dunes, our nationally

important steel industry, and Dillinger’s jail break will be each translated into music!

First things first: we must finish funding the “South Shore Suite” commission. We need the remaining

balance of $6000 by the end of July, so that the composer has sufficient time to write the piece

and deliver it to us on time. This simply cannot happen without your generous participation.

Please make your donation right now.  If you prefer to use a check, please make it payable to Fractured Atlas, and mail it to us at Duo Sequenza, P.O. Box 215, Valparaiso, IN 46384-0215. Although we’ve suggested a $50 gift, any amount is gratefully welcomed. Duo Sequenza is a sponsored project of Fractured Atlas, a non-profit arts service organization. Contributions for the charitable purposes of Duo Sequenza must be made payable to Fractured Atlas only and are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.

Thank you in advance for your generous support. Together, we can grow new audiences for contemporary classical music!
